If you don't do iCloud backups then no, but I believe iCloud backup is on by default. You can check it by going to Settings, tap on your name/Apple Id at the top and find iCloud, then swipe down that list until you find iCloud Backup and see if it's on and when the last backup was. Also, if you select not to restore from a backup or you select an iTunes backup then nothing gets restored from any iCloud backup.

Hello Fuzzel, To reset your phone and restore from back up you will have to make sure you have backed up with iCloud or iTunes first. The phone will have to be plugged in and you then can find the back up settings in your iCloud profile in settings on your phone. After it has finished backing up make sure find my iPhone is turned off and then you will have to navigate to settings, General, reset and then activate erase all content and settings. You may have to type in a passcode if you have one set up. This will take a little while as the iPhone will redownload the last version of iOS. You then will be asked if you want to restore from a back up or set up as new. You will want to pick the restore from back up option. Your phone will now start to sync all of your settings from iCloud. This may take a while. I hope this helps.
