You want to hold the side button down for about three seconds or until
it comes up with the shutdown option. Then release it and hold down the
home button. It should take you back to your home screen.

down the screen lock button until it said IPhone shutting down, then
held down the home button on my IPhone 7. Voice over didn’t come
back, but I heard the siri beep. Should I have held it down longer?
