That is an issue in iOS 13 for sure. 1. Report it to Apple. 2. if you close the message thread, you can flick up or down to delete and delete the whole thread. You cannot, as far as I can tell, delete individual message in a thread. You could, expand the thread, and deal with them one at a time. But, you may as well turn off threading in that case.
