hi,
when at update dialog pops up if you click later and it prompts you to
enter our pass code you'll if you explore the screen above the passcode it
says will update between 4 am and 6 am so if you put in your passcode
and agree to terms you'll get updated unless you goto
settings|general|softwear updates and turn off automatic updates. That
might be your problum thinking your phone auto updates on it's own. If you
just click disagree on terms you'll be fine. or turn off auto updates after
clicking later. I've used iPhones sincethe 4S and have never had it auto
update without my permission in some way. Hope this helps some of you
that think your phone auto updates without your permission.

Allen and Janet, I too have not updated to iOS 13. I avoid the automated
install by powering off my cell phone every evening. It will only do the
update when the phone is plugged in, powered up and left alone for a few
hours. It never tries to update during the day while I use the phone so I
power it off at night when not in use.
Thx, Albert

Janet,
I also have Settings, General, Software Update, Automatic Updates turned off
but as you said, iOS 13.x updates have still downloaded to my iPhone 8
numerous times. When I get a popup asking me if I'd like to install the
downloaded iOS, I always select later and then I'm prompted to enter my
personal ID after which I'm prompted to agree to terms and conditions. I
always disagree in the bottom left corner of the screen and the update is
not installed. I then immediately go to Settings, General iPhone Storage,
iOS 13.x and double tap on the downloaded iOS in the list, select delete,
and remove it from my device. A day or two later, the download happens again
and I repeat the cycle.
I'm not interested in leaving iOS 12.4.1 until iOS 13.2 is officially
released and they've hopefully fixed the bug with Voiceover and third party
software keyboards.

HI Jenn,
Thank you for this, as I do and have always had auto download turned off. I
think rather this feature is turned on or off, the download will still
download, but if we don't want the update on our phones, we have the option
to install by accepting the license agreement or not. This is the way it
works on my phone. Although, I'm just not for sure why we have the auto
software option, if the update still downloads.

Hi Janet,
If you have automatic updates turned on, it will download to your phon e
whether you want it or not. The best way to keep it from downloading is to
turn this setting off in settings, general and software updates.
Hope this helps,
Jenn

?Hi Everyone,
I've been asking this exact same question for a long time, so I'm going to
try and ask again, as I never seem to get an answer. My question is: when
Apple sends out an update, doesn't the update automatically download to
our phones, but we have the option to install by agreeing to the license
agreement or not? If someone would please chime in, and correct me if I'm
wrong?
Janet
