<https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2019/04/12/not-all-iphones-are-same-these-cost-less-are-better-earth/>
  from the Washington Post goes into more detail on where to buy refurbished
iPhones and what to expect.

I’m pretty sure that Apple’s still selling iPhones 8 and 8 Plus in the
certified refurbished section of their store, but you’re going to pay a higher
price if you go that rout if you’re on a tighter budget. If money isn’t a
concern, then you’re not going to get much better than just buying it from
Apple directly. New battery and screen and one year of Apple Care.

Subject: where to get used or refurbished iphones

Please save me some time waiting in lines or on hold… I’m ready to retire my
old 6S and am thinking I’d prefer to get an 8 or 8Plus to maintain thumbprint
ID and for the cost. Other than the Groupon deals I see, which have mixed
reviews, where do you look for refurbished iPhones? I got my last two phones
from Verizon, but the eamils I get seem to be only pushing trading in older
phones for the newest. I’m also thinking this is a good time to consider
switching carriers, since my Verizon service has been spotty. Just trying to
understand the best strategy. Should I go to the Apple store or do they only
sell new models there?

Thanks.
