You can set a reminder with Fantastical. When scheduling a new appointment/reminder, I use the show More button to show a full display of options. Among these, one of the first is a button which says something like Schedule Event. I double tap that to change it to schedule reminder, and then I get the usual reminder options. I don't use Reminders a lot, but I nearly always use Fantastical to schedule a reminder because it is easy to use, and toggling between appointments and reminders is very easy. I don't use Siri to set reminders or appointments within Fantastical, so I can't speak to that.
