Hi, While I admit I haven't messed with tons of files, the Pages app is pretty nice. Before the dots on my Braille display started going bad, I used Pages to prep a few sermons, and I even used it along with my display to preach said sermons. It worked pretty well. It can convert to and from Word, but I do have to admit it's not as seamless as using Word on all devices. I haven't messed with the Microsoft iOS apps to know if they are any good. If you get a Windows tablet, you will probably need a bluetooth keyboard even more than you would with the iPad. I have a Chewi Hi10 Air, which is one of those Chinese two in one computers. While a lot of people may use it as a tablet, it is of little use to me that way. It works much better with the keyboard attached. Without it, I can't even access the start menu. I suppose that it could very well depend on the tablet, but I think Windows on a touch screen leaves much to be desired. I like my Hi10 Air, as there are times that I just need Windows, especially for management of my online radio station, but having said that, my new iPad pro is much more powerful and faster. I know there are some Windows tablets that have celular data available, but not sure which ones. I hope you can find something that will work best for you, whatever that may be.
