When we start to feel stressed, we often do not do exactly what we believe we 
are doing. If the problem mainly happens when you are attempting to answer the 
phone, you may well be becoming more stressed, so are not performing the 
gesture properly. In other words, you may be touching the display with another 
finger without realising it, or holding your fingers too close together so iOS 
is only able to detect one finger. I strongly encourage anyone having 
complications with commands (iPhone is not doing what I am telling it to do 
with my commands) really needs to go to settings, general, accessibility, 
voice-over, practice area, and practice the commands until you do what you 
believe you are doing, 100% of the time. I even encourage you to feel pressure 
whilst doing so (imagine the phone is ringing and you need to answer it right 
now for example). When you do this well, not only do you improve your ability 
to control your iPhone, you may well figure out what mistakes you were making 
before.
