Good morning Malcom and all. Great charging info. I am finding my iPhone 8 doesn't always charge to 100 percent. I received a wireless charger for my birthday/Christmas present and put my phone to bed on it every night. Most of the time it is at 100 percent in the morning but at times, like this morning, it gets to 80 percent and I have to put the phone back on the charger for a while to reach 100 percent. Batteries and chargers can be a complex subject!

That’s 5 Volts at 1 Amp. That is equivalent to Apple’s stock charger that comes with the iPhone XR. Some Chargers like Anker’s wireless charger are rated at 7.5 Wats. As Apple’s charger only outputs at 5 Wats you cannot use them with wireless chargers rated above 5 Wats. Cases can have an impact on wireless charging too. Using the Lightning cable that came with your iPhone XR you can, with the correct charger charge at 12 Wats. That is 5 Volts ad 2.4 Amps. Obviously this will charge the device quicker than Apple’s charger. Something about 0% to 39% in half an hour. Apple’s charger achieves less of a percentage in that time a little under 16% in my non-scientific tests. If you want to take advantage of fast charging then you can charge your iPhone XR and above at 9 Volts at 2 Amp giving you a total of 18 Wats. This will charge from 0% to 50% in half an hour. Charging rates then drop off as the battery nears fully charged no matter what charger you are using. If you want to fast charge then look for chargers that are USB PD compatible. You will need a USB PD compatible charging cable too, USB-C to Lightning. Hope this helps someone. PS. There are also USB PD compatible power banks too.
