Hello All,

I have used both the Dexcom G5/G6 and the Libre Link sensors. I liked certain
features of both devices.

First the Dexcom system: The Dexcom system is the best sensor or CGM on the
market here in the US. That is a plus and a minus as it works the best and has
the best application on iOS and Android, the down fall is it’s a very expensive
system and some insurance companies will not cover it. I at times with the
Dexcom get a overloaded with the notifications it spits at you all day long. I
know they are there to help but sometimes the notifications are a bit much.
This is where the Libre system is a little nicer. The Dexcom application is
fully accessible and easy to navigate and use. The only down fall is that the
blood sugar graph is not accessible to Voiceover users. You can however
download the Dexcom Clarity application to accessibly view your blood sugar
trends and also see your insulin intake averages assuming you enter them using
either the InPen insulin system or use the events section of the Dexcom
application. You can even set your DR up with a option to view all of your data
from your records.

Libre system: This system is great because of the affordability. It’s much
cheaper then the Dexcom with a few trade offs. It will not send you
notifications to alert you of high or low blood sugars, rapidly raising or
dropping blood sugars, etc. You will have to scan the sensor with an iPhone
that is at least an iPhone 7 or newer. The application is usable with VoiceOver
but there are a lot of unlabeled buttons and mislabeled buttons. To get
VoiceOver to announce the trend arrow (direction blood sugar is going, slowly
falling, slowly raising, falling quickly, raising quickly, etc you will have to
turn on the TTS function in settings of the app).As stated in a previous email
in the thread you can get a transmitter that will allow you to utilize a 3rd
party application that will scan the sensor every 5 minutes and send it to your
phone. There are 2 different options and they are both limited in accuracy and
you will have to calibrate the system multiple times through out the day.

Ultimately the choice is up to you and what your comfort level is with pricing
and what your Dr recommends.

They both can be used by visually impaired diabetics and will work in the long
run.
