Here is a helpful post from Wayne that helped me get it set so it works now. Note, if you are using away mode then swiping down refers to swiping down toward the table.
Here are some gestures to try: 3 finger swipe down, locks and unlocks the layout being used. Perhaps you were in table top or screen away modes. The dots appear in different places depending on which mode is being used. I used screen away mode, which means I have my phone horizontal, gripped by my thumbs and pinkies, and I use my middle 3 fingers for the dots on the screen. Table top mode is for writing on a flat surface, such as your lap or a table. Once you choose an orientation, do another 3 finger swipe down to lock it in place. Then, when switching to BSI, the phone will automatically go in that mode. Hold 1 finger on the screen. VoiceOver will play a tone and then say you are in screen explore mode. If you leave the finger on the screen and slide around, you can hear where the dots are located on screen. When done, lift the finger off the screen and keep typing. 3 finger swipe right or left, switches between 6 dot and contracted. To set the type of English Braille code used, go to Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, Braille, and Braille Tables. I've changed mine from US English-UEB to US English-contracted. Aside from some functional differences, i think mBraille is very similar to Braille Screen Input. It may take time to get used to, but if you put in a few hours, you will get the hang of Braille Screen Input. Good luck, Wayne Merritt Richard 🖖 Live long and prosper Check out my web site at: www.turner42.com<http://www.turner42.com/> From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of \Elizabeth Campbell Sent: Friday, February 28, 2020 6:05 AM To: VIPhone <[email protected]> Subject: Re: Braille Screen question Hello everyone, I rarely post on this list, but I truly appreciate the information that is shared. I am also having problems with the Braille screen input. It was a convenient way to sent text messages or write short emails. Now, I find it almost impossible to use. I hope the next IOS version will address this bug. Best regards.
