Mark, when you began this conversation about not being able to make a backup of your iPhone with itunes, since I hadn't made a back up of my iPhone I decided to give it a try using the same itunes version you are using. Our iPhones are se phones, and the operating system is windows 7 64. I couldn't back up either. It kept comming up with an eror message, saying something like, the mobile application stopped working. It gave you the choice to check online for a solution and close the program, or just close the program. I went to uninstalled itunes, it gave me the option to uninstall or repair itunes. I chose repair, that didn't do any good, so I uninstalled itunes. then I reinstalled itunes, the new installation ended up with the same results. So I decided to leave itunes installed and then I installed imazing, and I was able to back up the phone with no problem. However, I would rather have a reliable working version of itunes to back up and restore with. If you find one, Please let all of us know. Thank you.

Wayne

Hello Julian,

I am glad you can still perform a backup on your Windows PC.

You are using an X R. I am using an 8 Plus. There must be some difference, there.

I thought about re-installing this version of iTunes over my current version but, now that I think about it, there is really no need for me to hang onto this version since I rarely copy apps to the phone from my PC. Mind you, I still like to write reviews via iTunes for Windows but, more often than not, I find myself using my iPad Pro to write reviews.

Alas, I am resigned to the idea that I will need to update to the latest version of iTunes for Windows before purchasing my next phone.

iTunes 12.6.x for Windows, it was a great run while it lasted (smile).

Hi Mark,

I am running iOS 13.4.1 on my iPhone XR and my computer is Windows 7 running the latest version of the iTunes software for business that you shared on this list years ago.

Hello Julian,

Either you are using the latest version of iTunes for Windows or you are not running the latest version of iOS on your Apple device. Or, you could have just gotten lucky (smile).

Hello all,

This is strange. I was successfully able to back up my phone to my computer earlier this afternoon using this exact version of the business version of iTunes.

Hello All,

I think I know the answer but just want to confirm:

For quite some time, I have not been able to backup my 8 Plus via iTunes
12.6.5.3 on my Windows computer.

When I go to the related Apple web article, I see that the article referring to this version of iTunes has been archived and will no longer be updated.

Before I give in and install the latest version of iTunes for Windows, I want to make absolutely certain that there is not a workaround for getting my 8 Plus to backup to this version of iTunes for Windows.

I mean, I knew this day would come but I am surprised that it came in the middle of an OS cicle as opposed to the beginning of a new one but .

As always, all replies greatly appreciated.

Mark
