Hi fellow listers,
I thought I’d share this. While ordering an iPhone for a family member
the Xfinity person mentioned to me that I might want to turn off Wifi Assist.
Here is what I learned.
In the setting under cellular is a wifi assist option.
When on the phone will select the strongest signal wifi or cell.
This means if you have a data plan your phone will use data even when wifi is
available if the cell signal is stronger.
In my case my phone would change to Cell and stay there for extended times. I
didn’t know wy and it was frustrating. Once I changed the setting my phone
stayed on wifi consistently.
If you have unlimited data all good and use the option but, I’m on a shared
data plan and I was the data hog without meaning to be.
I hope this tip is helpful to others.
