If there exists an adapter that will let one use a set of type A full-sized USB plug headphones on a lightning adapter iDevice, I'd love to hear about it. The Belkin Rockstar splitter I posted about works with lightning adapter earphones and a lightning adapter cable. I assumed Dacia meant lightning adapter when she said USB since an iPhone doesn't have any USB ports on it.
