My personal opinion is that if you buy it through Verizon you can bargain more for a plan or some kind of a deal on a phone, and you have the same with Apple either way. If you opt for Apple Care, you can get it, regardless of where you buy the phone, and you have the same access to applevis.com and Apple Accessibility by phone. Plus, where I live, there are several Verizon (even Wal-Mart has Verizon) stores, but no Apple store, would have to get to another town to get to one.
