I haven't noticed any significant battery drain when listening to BARD books. I usually play the book in the app with the phone unlocked. I've got Bluetooth on and use other apps that use more battery power than the BARD Mobile app. I would agree with Richard if you notice a huge drain in battery. Another idea is to see how many apps you are running in the App Switcher, and if any of those use GPS and/or the camera. If so, close them, and you should see your battery use go back to normal.
