Be careful you don't choose erase all content and settings, since then you would need a backup to restore your settings and content from to move forward. Also, on the iPhone 8/Plus and newer, when doing the reset you talked about, you hold the power or lock button in for 10 seconds. Since when you do that type of reset, you lose VoiceOver speech until the phone returns to the lock screen and reboots itself. If none of this works, I would definitely recommend calling Apple Accessibility on an available free line. If you are living with someone, perhaps you can use their phone to call.
