I am likewise interested in an app that can identify birds by their calls with
a reasonable degree of accuracy. I live in northern Wisconsin and as I sit
outside listening to the cacauphony of bird calls surrounding me I’d like to
know which species are so garciously treating me to Nature’s symphony.
I went to the web site listed by Richard and found an app named ChirpOMatic but
wonder if it is accessible. It costs $3.95 and I am sufficiently cheap that I
do not want to throw away that amount.
Can anybody tell me if ChirpOMatic is accessible to a totally blind person?

Wow, what an appropriate signature tag the system randomly chose for this

First thanks to James for taking the plunge in answering your email. Those 26
instances of your email scared me a bit.
Anyway, the bird song identification app I use is "Chirp USA." It has a ton of
birds and includes bird songs as well as calls. Also, there are good
descriptions of the songs/call and links to other information about the bird
for the Cornell ornithology site and Wikipedia.
