I want to thank all of you for your responses. I have been researching bikes and the prices and features are all over the place.
I really like the idea of getting a bike just so that I can work out rather than worrying about connectivity. I have also seen that some of them require additional apps with monthly fees and I'm not interested in paying more especially for a feature that may or may not work. I have some chronic lower back pain and my doctor is recommending that I use a recumbent bike to build up the core muscles in the lower back while also providing some support while riding. I have a indoor cycle that is comparable to the spin bikes that you find at the gym. honestly, all you need is a rpm/cadence sensor and you are good to go in terms of getting a good workout. An Apple Watch will help you track other metrics if that is what you're into. if you have an indoor cycle with a rpm/cadence sensor as an add-on, you can follow along with spin class instructors that are giving you information like spin at 80% or hundred percent etc. For something like this, you probably won't spend over $700 with a decent indoor cycle and sensor.
