Shirley,
"Prepared, dimmed," simply means the device is preparing to update. I
can't speak for what is actually happening, but I take this to mean
the downloaded software update files are being unpacked and sorted so
the install process can continue. The dimmed just means it is a button
that is not available or that you cannot activate. If it says
preparing dimmed, then take some time to do something else while the
update/unpacking/install process happens for you.
