Hello Alan,

This was a marvelous idea.

I ran the command. A couple of years ago, the updater would list both the
iCloud control panel for Windows and iTunes. Now, however, it only list the
iCloud control panel.

I have a lot of 32-bit only software on this computer that I use for work.
And, while I will certainly have to get a new computer with Windows 10, at
present, I want to continue using this PC for as long as possible.

I purchased this particular PC back in 2009 and it runs like a champ. I
believe the hardware on the PC is 64-bit but, as I stated, some of the old
software is running 32-bit.

I found a site from Tech Crunch that offers iTunes 12.10.x for Windows 7,
32-bit but I am somewhat leery of sites offering iTunes downloads when Apple,
itself, does not. Something just doesn't seem right about that.

Now, I have another Windows 7 PC, that is running 64-bit Windows. I will
attempt to run the Apple software updater on that PC and see what happens.

What I find most interesting is that on the Apple download site, one can find
much older versions of iTunes for Windows but not iTunes 12.7; this makes no
sense to me.

I may have to wait until I purchase a new Desktop running Windows 10 before I
can move forward on this but I never would have guessed that this would be the
case.

Had I known that my option to update to the latest version of iTunes would be
at issue, I would have updated last year, when I had the chance.

Thank you all for your feedback on this.

Mark

Mark,

I don't know whether the latest iTunes for Windows version will run on a 32-bit
system but I'd recommend you execute your Windows 7 Start button and type Apple
Software update in the box and see what it offers you. That's how I've gotten
past iTunes versions on my Windows 7 64-bit system when I had trouble getting
them from the Microsoft Store.

Good luck.

Subject: iTunes for Windows 7, on a 32-bit PC, anyone?

Hello Everyone,

Okay, up until now, I have continued to use my old Windows 7, 32-bit Desktop as
my primary iTunes Library manager.

As a result, I have iTunes 12.6.5.x on a Windows 7 PC. As you may recall, once
upon a time, this version allowed one to access the app store.

While it continues to allow one to access the App Store, it no longer supports
device backup on anything running iOS 13 or later.

So, reluctantly, given that it would appear that Apple's decision to remove the
app store from iTunes is permanent; and given that I would, once again, prefer
to have actual iTunes backups of my devices, I have decided to upgrade iTunes
12.6.x to the latest version of iTunes.

So, I went to apple.com/itunes and, to my surprise, there does not appear to be
a 32-bit version of iTunes 12.7 available.

Have I waited too long to update?

The only older versions of iTunes I can find on that particular site are
versions older than 12.6 and all appear to be 64-bit only.

So, I have two questions:

1.
What is the latest version of iTunes for Windows? Keep in mind that I do not
have access to the Microsoft store on a Windows 7, 32-bit PC.

2.
Does anyone know from where I may download the latest 32-bit version of iTunes
for Windows 7? Is anyone running a version of iTunes for Windows that allows
for backing up iOS / iPad OS running versions of the operating system that are
at least 13.x or higher, that was not downloaded from the Microsoft Store?

All replies greatly appreciated.

Mark
