Christopher,

One of the big reasons for going into 64 bit systems was also that RAM quotas
in 32 bit machines topped out useage at 3.6 gigabytes give or take 100 meg,

As systems needed more ram to run, the 64 bit system allowed machines to
utilize those ram amounts over the 4 gig levels.

Aswell as 64bit systems allowed for more to be happening at one time on a
machine.

Sorry, I never meant to imply that there weren't machines running the 32-bit
version of Windows Seven. I just meant that by the time Windows Seven was
rolling out, virtually all machines being manufactured at the time were 64-bit
architecture and could run the 64-bit version of Windows Seven. The transaction
from 32-bit to 64-bit hardware platforms occurred during Windows 2000, and
there was a 64-bit version of Windows 2000. When 64-bit systems came out they
could still run 32-bit versions of Windows, otherwise the architecture never
would have been adopted.
