Andrew, I've noticed this on my iPad 3Gen since upgrading to iOS 6. I was thinking it was a problem with my home button! But maybe it's a VO bug. I usually go to settings and turn off & back on VO (I have some usable vision). I was also thinking it may be a comflict of something, as since iOS 6 came out I have VO on and Zoom on as well. Prior to iOS 6 we couldn't do that. I don't have Zoom on my iPhone as the level of magnification I need is too big to be effective on the smaller screen, in fact I consider myself a VO user as my primary choice of using either of my iDevices.
So, I'd be interested to see if anyone else has experienced this. Also, I'll have to check out the five finger pinch out I don't use any of the iPad custom gestures as of yet.
