Thanks Holly, that was indeed the culprit! I had forgotten I added described images to the rotor and I thought I had it turned off.

When you are in an app that has this extraneous chatter, turn the rotor to ‘described images’ and flick up to disable it. It will stayed disabled forever, unless you enable it again.
