Thank you, for telling about your experiences with the glass, way too expensive
for me. As much as I appreciate all the scanning apps, and also scanning
software for the computer, it would be really wonderful if being able to read
the experation dates on products could be done or worked on. Possibly there may
be something I'm not aware of, for example if any of the scanning apps or even
softward can read the experation dates, that again I'm not aware of, and or
there may be some technical reason why it's not possible. Though I wish being
able to read the experation dates could be possible and truly worked on. It's
really, really important. Unfortunately even the scanners such as the id mate
can't seem to read that information and it's very much needed information, even
if you have some general knowledge of how long a product lasts, along with all
the other important product information that can be read by the scanning apps,
scanning software for the computer and the hand held scanners.

Richard, glad to share, thanks. When I saw the virtual demo, I was ready to
run right out and purchase, assuming I could find the money somewhere smile!!
The price is $3,500.00. Company in FL (is US distributor) has a 10% sale that
ends tomorrow.

With the glass, the person was able to look around the room and objects such
as chairs, doorways, tables, books, etc were identified. The person doing the
demo showed us a feature that allows you to augment the info you have by
connecting to a human who has access to a part of the ap that allows them to
see what you are seeing. This feature reminded me of a AIRA contact.
Demonstrator had the unit scan and read a recipe. While not demonstrated, was
told that the unit can read columnized material such as newspapers. Asked if
I would be able to use the glass to identify a vehicle such as paratransit van,
uber, lyft, etc while standing inside a building looking out the window.
Demonstrator did not know.

Can download the ap and try it free for two weeks. So, I did. My excitement
and enthusiasm turned in to genuine frustration and disappointment. I tried
scanning a single page document that was able to read with voice dream scanner.
I never could get the camera to see all four edges of the document regardless
of how I moved it. I finally gave up and just had it read whatever it could.
The result was nothing recognizable. I got the same results on a couple other
documents. So, moved on to the explorer part of the application. With this
feature, could take a picture of object and ap would identify it. Scene
descriptions were not accurate, but they sure were interesting!! For instance,
one time it referred to my guide dog as a possible bear. The second time it
called her a possible large cat!!! I will say that I have never been able to
get accurate object identification with seeing ai either. Am thinking that
accuracy issues could be caused by the fact that I have no clue how to take
pictures, and am using the original Iphone se, all be it with the latest
software .

I wonder whether the glass requires you to take pictures or if it just
automatically somehow identifies the object. Even though I understand envision
ai and glass can be used with wifi and hotspots, it still seems like you would
be using a lot of data and battery power to constantly be exploring
environment.

So, that’s as far as I have gotten with envision ai. I know there is a help
feature that I need to explore. I just downloaded supersense and have started
playing with it. Like Richard, I found the fact that it immediately starts
scanning without you doing anything, disconcerting..

  Kitty,

I think I’m not the only one who would like to know what you thought of the
demo of the Envision Glasses?

  Thanks,

  Richard, in the U.S.

Richard, I am amazed at how much stuff I have been able to skim and read with
Winston’s scanner program. At a minimum, am able to screen mail to find out
what it is and determine if human assistance is needede. Guess the thing that
attracted my attention to envision ai is the wearable glasses and all that you
can do with them. Goint to be checking out a virtual demo tomorrow.

I tried Envision AI, and in my opinion, it is not so much better than Seeing
AI. In fact, I'm not convinced it is as good. It is different, and has a
different focus I think; but for all my scanning needs, a combination of Voice
Dream Scanner, and Seeing AI do what I need.

Now, SuperSense is yet another player in this field, and it to me seems
better than Envision AI, and is on sale this month for half price for the
lifetime subscription, which is essentially $50 instead of $100. Or you can do
a monthly or I think yearly subscription. I've not decided to buy it since I'm
doing fine with Voice Dream Reader and Seeing AI; but I'm thinking about it.

Would like comments from anyone who has tried both aps. I know that
envision ai is giving people a free 14 day trial followed by a monthly
subscription of around $13.00 for first year and $20.00 month for subsequent
years. That seems kinda expensive to me. Is it significantly better than
seeing ai? How?
