Were you using a Bluetooth headset? Could be that occasionally when it's on
it doesn't pick up sound from the phone? (I've seen that happen.) The thing
to do then is to turn off the BT headset, then turn it on again and
hopefully it will fully engage then.

A weird thing happened to me this morning. I could not hear
people on my phone, whether I called them or they called me,
so I shut down, came back up and VOILA, phone working. What
do you supposed caused that? Battery level is in the 70's.
