No you are not doing anything wrong. On iPads, once you go to settings, it lists all the categories on the left side of the screen. When you select one of the catagories or apps you want to modify its settings, the settings are listed on the right side of the screen. Since general is already selected, you will find all items under it listed on the right of the screen. One easy way to find them is to select headings in your rottor, and swipe once down, it will take you to that list of items.
