Yeah because you are using pop rather than iMap And your mail is being kept on the server,
So you download your mail on your computer and when you delete it after reading it It’s still on the server so when you look at your phone it’s not yet been read, And same with the Hotmail servers Your mail still sits there and is waiting to be removed, Any new device you look at your email on, it will show the mail you read on your mac mail, And it will appear to be unread. Easy answer, do your deleting on the computer. If your phone is set to use Pop3, you can go into the settings and tell it to leave messages on the server.
