That could be that you are in the Day Ticker, which is monumentally frustrating. You want the month or just calendar view if you want to try and make sense of it.
But like I said when I mentioned it, I switched back to the Native Calendar app because I wasn't happy with the change in Fantastical and refuse to pay their stupidly high fees for the honor of subscribing...
