That happens in some apps, but it probably is still entering your number, just enter it and tap OK or Next or whatever they have. I have WhatsApp set up to use 2-factor authentication and from time to time I am asked to enter a code I set up and it behaves the same way, I just hear the donk sound, but still after I finish entering my 6-digit code everything works.
