Hi, Bookshare doesn't have an app as such. Voice Dream Reader is 1000% accessible. These are basically text files; read by a speech synthesizer through the app of your choice; or downloadable as BRF files to read on a braille display. The most common format is DAISY Text but you can get DAISY MP3 which is a synthesized voice reading the book that is ported to an MP3 file. Not my personal choice.
You can also use the free Dolphin Easy Reader but I find it not as functional, but many people love it. You get a default voice; I think maybe your own VoiceOver voice, and you can buy voices for it as well. The main reason Bookshare can get books so quickly is that they are text based, so no need to wait for someone to record them. $50 a year is beyond worth it. I'd spend many times that if I was having to buy them from Kindle.
