Thank you so much. That’s worked which means I can use my iPad again.  What I 
don’t understand, and it would be great if someone could explain it to me, is 
if screen recognition is meant to recognize items on the screen which Voiceover 
doesn’t normally recognize, why does it make the majority of my apps unusable?

Andrew,

 

Open the app switcher, hopefully settings is in the app switcher, put voiceover 
focus on settings or an app, turn the rotor to screen recognition & flick to 
turn screen recognition off, turn the rotor off screen recognition & tap to 
open settings or the app that voiceover focus was on. Of course, you can also 
flick to remove the app from the app switcher. Repeat the previous steps for 
all unusable apps in which screen recognition has been enabled. Any questions 
feel free to ask.

Thank you for your email.  However turning screen recognition back off is my 
problem now because as I mentioned in my original email I am unable to navigate 
any of my apps and that includes settings.  I need to be able to get into 
settings to turn screen recognition back off.

I just use the radio side, but it works fine and so I am guessing will the 
option to watch the matches.

 

Then, you could airplay it to your TV or just watch it on your iPad.

Hi

 

Following installing an update to my Amazon Prime Video app onto my iPad Mini 
5th generation earlier today I had problems when trying to hear the live 
coverage of the US Open Tennis tournament as the buttons to watch the video, 
which normally appear after the detailed description, were nowhere to be found. 
 I therefore decided to play around in the Voiceover settings and turned on 
screen recognition which, if my understanding is correct, is meant to enable 
Voiceover to recognize items on the screen when moving around apps which 
Voiceover might not otherwise recognise.  However, having turned that on and 
selected the apps I wanted included, although I can move around my home screen 
OK I am unable to move around any apps and that includes settings.  Is anyone 
able to advise me how I can rectify this problem please as I am unable to move 
around using neither the touch screen or a Bluetooth keyboard.
