It sounds like the original questioner needs to check with the friend to make sure that Siri has internet access. That is the sound and message when Siri cannot get to the server; which may be a problem of the past once iOS 15 is out. And, I find Alexa and Siri about equally smart or stupid depending on the day and how badly I want to know something. There are plenty of examples where both of them fail miserably on what should be easy questions. So, I give credit where credit is due; and/or complaints where complaints are due.
