Thanks everyone. I will try out both methods and see which works better for me. I had no idea you could adjust the speaking rate using the double tap and hold and then sliding your finger gesture. I typically never have the change speaking rate or volume controls on the roder because I often accidentally changed the settings while doing other gestures on my screen. I will have to put them back on the roder to try them out. I will likely then remove them again until I need to make a change to the settings again.
