Hi Alan, We have used the Nest Thermostat for years. I realize there are less expensive options out there. As far as the app is concerned, other than not being able to work the schedule feature, it is perfectly accessible. The schedule is not a big issue for me, since it learns your preferences as you adjust the temperature. That piece works well. When we travel, it is easy to adjust the state of the system. For instance, we went away for 9 days, and I turned the system off. Before we arrived home, I was able to re-enable the system. It does work with Alexa. Hope this helps.
