Alan, some of the voices have a very long pause before the fonetic feedback is spoken. I personally find Tom Enhanced to speak m and n quite clearly; but everyone's hearing is very different and with some hearing loss, depending on where in the frequency range that is; male or female voices can be harder to understand.

I have that setting set to characters and phonetics so that when I'm touch typing a word, Voiceover speaks the letter and if I pause also speaks its phonetic equivalent.
