That’s a great way to share the apple knowledge / learning around. Just make sure you do actually wipe it back to factory defaults.
You don’t want to go giving away a phone with personal data still existing on it. Even though it’s a friend, The phone could end up anywhere. So wipe it! And also this gives your friend a base to start with and learn how to setup the phone from scratch. Good luck.
