Yes, there are tons of a]sites with accessible information about plants with all the growing instructions by searching for a particular plant name.
I would first see if your local nursery has a web site, since they will likely sell plants that are good to grow in your region. Some plants will grow great in some regions and not others. Now, if you are in a situation where I have been before, when you moved into a new house with existing plants and you didn’t know what they were, that is where a nice plant identification app would be great. The next best thing, as I think about it, would be aira, who within a five minute free call each day should be able to look up a plant from a picture they could take with your phone’s camera and send you the info. Next, would be FaceTime or Skype with someone you know who could look things up for you and might know the plants. I have tried to find a reliable and accessible way to identify plants just from a photo, but it is tedious and somewhat hit and miss.
