Which iPhone do you have? If it's anything like an XR, 11, 12 or 13 series phone holding the side button does not bring up the Power Off screen, you have to either press and hold one of the volume buttons along with the side button at the same time or press first volume up briefly, then volume down and then press and hold the side button for about 2 seconds.
