What exactly are you trying to accomplish. The only change in iMessage I 
recommend if it hasn't already been turned on is to specify to send as text 
message if iMessage is unavailable.
Apart from that if you want to send stuff as text and not iMessage you have to 
turn iMessage off. To me that makes little sense because if you are sending 
somebody a message and they have an iOS device which can receive iMessages then 
iOS automatically knows this and sends the message as an iMessage, if you are 
sending to an Android or other phone it will automatically go as a text message 
and if you turn on the setting I mentioned above, somebody will still get the 
message as a text if you or they don't have a Wi-Fi connection.
