Hi Donna, I can't remember which iPhone you have, but I know for sure up until the iPhone 11 at least each iPhone came with a set of Earpods which can also be had from Apple for I think $19.99. I don't want to minimize your situation and that you don't want to spend money unnecessarily, but for me a set of wired headphones are an essential item and I feel that these inexpensive Apple Earpods are the absolute best value as the functionality with the little inline remote is great and in my opinion they sound pretty amazing for such a simple and inexpensive item. Just my 2 cents worth.
