I personally think it's probably safer to switch your main provider to eSIM unless you know for sure the local provider where you are going will have eSIM vouchers. If so then it is probably just as easy to get the eSIM from the local provider when you travel. For me when I go to the Philippines I know that I can always get a SIM card, not so sure about eSIM, but then I haven't really looked into it.
