Okay, she called Apple Accessibility and the problem was Siri not being
setup that was causing the swiping issues. Thank you all for your input,
it's greatly appreciated and this thank you is coming from both the lady and
myself. I'm recommending for this lady to join this list because it's such
a great source for info. Thanks again.

Have her use two fingers & tap the screen four times to open up
accessibility quick access, swipe down to screen recognition & tap to turn
the feature off. This can be done while the problem app is open. Let me know
if this works for her.

ichard,

This person has only had this iPhone, and it's her first iPhone, for 2
weeks. If she can't get sighted help how can she turn off Screen
Recognition on her own? I'm asking in case Screen Recognition isn't in the
rotor. Thanks much.

Probably that damnable screen recognition is on.

Settings, Accessibility, VoiceOver, VoiceOver Recognition, Screen
Recognition turn it off.

Check to see if it is in the rotor, if so, when VoiceOver is on, turn the
rotor to Screen Recognition and flick up or down to off, then turn the rotor
away from it.

Subject: Can't Swipe With Voiceover Activated

  Hi all,

an acquaintance is having a problem with a new iPhone 12 mini. Can
someone help her out? Her query is below.

Yes, Mike it is an I phone the problem now is that it will not allow me or
my sighted neighbor to swipe when it is in voice over. When she turns off
voice over it has no problem. That is where I am stuck. It is a 12 Mini.
I'm going to give myself a fairly short learning period and then it is going
back. I have caught on to all my other adaptive equipment quite readily so
this is a very disappointing venture for me.

  Barbara

All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
