I just wanted to reply to this because I just got the Orbit Writer and have been playing around with the settings.
These are the options that worked best for me: Braille input: contracted (automatically translate) Typing feedback: words I find it gets way less confused when I have it on words. Backspace doesn't tell me every character, but if I backspace through an entire word, it'll tell me the word I just deleted, so it works fine for me. It now works very reliably and I have not had any issues with it. My wife is ambivalent about it so far, but I like it personally.
