The only things which count against your iCloud space are things you create. Music and books you get from Apple using their apps don't count against your iCloud space. The same is true of movies or TV shows you might purchase. You create photos and documents so they take up iCloud space. Ebooks and other goods you purchase from alternative sources will count against your iCloud space presuming the apps you use back up to iCloud. Therefore, any books you have in Voice Dream REader will take up iCloud space.
