Presuming no RGB or backlighting, that's true for a good many keyboards.
You don't need to spend big bucks for very long battery life. However,
looking at the longevity time difference between when lighting is used and
turned off, it's very drastic. I recently read about a keyboard which could
last ten months without the lighting being turned on or fifteen days with
lighting activated and used. My Keychron keyboard is similar. I can get
around 100 hours with the lighting turned off. However, that drops to
around 34 hours with the lighting used. My keyboard is a compact low
profile design so it has a smaller battery. However, I think it still
serves to illustrate the potential problem of dramatically overestimating
the charge remaining and not realizing that your lighting is on. RGB
lighting effects can cut down your batteries even more than backlighting.
For many people with sight, such lighting seems to be very desirable
despite the power tradeoff. For people like me who are totally blind, the
lighting is a liability.
