Could you check Lock Screen in Settings to see if it was changed in the update? One time with an update, my cellular data was turned off.

Fore example, if I am reading a Facebook post, screen gets locked before Voiceover has finished reading. Before the upgrade, screen would get locked according to the time set, only when the iPhone was not active. I am using iPhone 12 Pro Max.
