I have never had to use pepper spray. The cans last for a few years
and have expiration dates posted on them. I am prepared to taste the
pepper spray, but I know most of it will go on the offender rather
than me.

I had only two incidents. One time I was wearing a pager on my belt.
The criminal followed me down a residential street, pushed me forward
and pulled the pager off my belt. This demonstrates that I would not
have been victimized if the criminals did not see the pager.

Another incident was in winter and I was in a transfer tunnel between
two subway lines at the afternoon rush. The criminal puts his arms
around me and pulls out the gloves and hat from coat pockets. I
started shouting about it and other passengers forced the criminal to
give me back my gloves and hat.
