In such an instance, then I would call Apple and report the device as having been stolen. They will place it on a special list that will prevent the device from being reactivated. Do not remove the device from your account until you speak to Someone at Apple who will advise you on how best to proceed. I am sorry that her phone was stolen; What a terrible thing to happen. Should you decide to contact Apple and report the phone as having been stolen, please let us know your experience with Apple on this so that others who may have a similar incident will no how best to proceed.
