It has been my experience, both as a blind user, and training other blind people, that VO is quite accurate about where it detects one's touch. So, if you think it isn't announcing where you 'know' something is, have a sighted person observe where you are touching. The odds are, you are not touching exactly where you believe you are. If you have a firm touch, it is definitely not as accurate as a light touch. The reasons for this are completely logical once one understands how the technology actually functions.
